Takeover to Build Over

The State Government’s hasty swoop to take over a large swathe of your Park Lands is designed to clear the way for a loss of biodiversity and large intrusive new buildings, infrastructure and more car parks on your Open Green Public spaces.

The move defies many of the State Government’s own rules and laws; so an upgraded golf course can downgrade your Park Lands.

Whatever it takes

The Premier, Peter Malinauskas, has a vision: that your Park Lands must be profit centres, and that therefore Open, Green, Public land (as well as trees and biodiversity) must be subservient, or sacrificed to money-making imperatives, such as LIV golf.

Think outside the fence

It is time to think outside the fence about Adelaide’s vitality and sustainability. APA’s Stewart Sweeney argues that the world's great cities do not fence off, charge admission, destroy, and then repair their parks and squares in an endless annual cycle.
