We are a broad-based community organisation. We are only as strong as our members, and volunteers: those who give their time and energy to help us EXPLORE, INSPIRE, PROTECT and RESTORE.
Can you help with one of these roles? If so, just contact us via the form at the bottom of the page. NB: Some of these roles are available only to APA Members. But please inquire!

Communications team
Journalist - EDITOR (MORE THAN ONE ROLE)
Our large and growing audience (more than 6,800 on Facebook alone) has an appetite for news about your Park Lands. We need regular stories, for example Park Lands stories about:
birds, animals, or plants;
fascinating people, sports or events;
Government plans or decisions;
buildings, playgrounds, pathways;
public art, monuments, or history;
restoration, re-planting or recovering biodiversity.
Just one story per month for our blog and newsletter, would be a welcome commitment, and you would get a personal by-line on your story. If you have a way with words, we want your help to tell just one story per month.
WEB CONTENT EDITOR (MORE THAN ONE ROLE)
Our website is a huge trove of Park Lands information; with info on current issues, guided walks, trail guides, newsletters, blog articles, merchandise store and much more. Can you take on a small portion of the role? You could be assigned responsibility for, say, just the Current Issues pages of the website; or just keeping the Trail Guides up to date: you choose.
NEWSLETTER - ASSISTANT EDITOR (MEMBERS ONLY)
Our bimonthly newsletter, “Open Green Public” contains stories published on our blog and also links to stories published elsewhere. Stories come from a variety of sources, but the newsletter requires a careful editorial approach to achieve a balance between different types of stories.
Video production
We have a YouTube channel which, among other things, features a short video about each of the Parks in your Park Lands. These videos were produced between 2017 and 2021 and the older ones could do with updating. There is also great potential for additional videos, e.g. on specific topics such as children's playgrounds, native vegetation, birds/animals, Park Lands watering, sport uses, etc.
We would especially be keen to commission production of a sharply focussed video to act like an advertisement for your Park Lands: only 30 or 60 seconds, to inspire people to Love Your Park Lands.
Fundraising
FUNDRAISING sub-COMMITTEE
We rely on revenue from three main sources: (1) renewing membership fees, (2) our Guided Walks, and (3) commission from the sale of Art Works at our biennial Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize. We believe there is potential for income from other sources (e.g. social events for members and supporters). We already have a sub-committee planning an event to be held in October 2024. Can you be part of that small team?
MERCHANDISER
We want to diversify our income to help fund our range of activities: Explore, Inspire, Protect, and Restore. If we can sell more of our branded products, that would also raise the Association’s profile. We already offer a range of print-on-demand branded merchandise in the APA Shop but there is potential to grow this micro-business, with new products and/or better marketing. Do you have the know-how and the enthusiasm for this opportunity? If so, please offer to help our new 2024 merchandise committee, headed by APA Deputy President Ben Ayris.
Restore
RE-GREENING CO-ORDINATOR (MEMBERS ONLY)
We need someone to help revive our stalled efforts to re-green one or more specific targeted locations within your Park Lands. The City of Adelaide has walked away from a previous commitment to allow us to re-green a disused bitumen area. We need someone with passion to lobby the Council, and drive a new initiative. There is no shortage of sites in your Park Lands that can and should be restored. If we can get a new commitment from the City Council, then more volunteers will be required to actually do the re-greening work!
If you can see yourself playing a role in any of the above areas, please contact us directly. Just drop a line below, or alternatively contact Executive Officer David Winderlich executive@adelaide-parklands.asn.au
