There are three great ways to get exploring in the Adelaide Park Lands:
On foot, with our Park Ambassadors in our scheduled Guided Walks. (See below.)
On screen, with the “Explore” pages on this website; or
On foot, with our Trail Guides (i.e. self-guided walks).
All of our Trail Guides and Guided Walks are on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. The Adelaide Park Lands Association acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present and future traditional custodians and elders of these lands.
The schedule of Guided Walks for the first half of 2025 will be published by Christmas 2024.
What else is on, in your Park Lands? See our “What’s On’’ listings.
Each Guided Walk is free for our members. Non-members pay $9.00. Children aged 7-15 and concession tickets are $6.00. Children six or under don’t need a ticket. Tickets are available through Humanitix.
Please consider joining as an APA Member to get free tickets for any/all of our Guided Walks. Membership starts at just $20 (single concession) annually.
Dogs are most welcome, but on a lead, please. (Except for the Guided Walk through the Adelaide Botanic Garden, where the only dogs allowed are assistance dogs.)
PARK AMBASSADors
Our Association has more than 20 “Park Ambassadors” - simply volunteers who've agreed to once a year, lead a guided walk through "their" Park, i.e. their favourite chosen part of the Adelaide Park Lands. It's just a few people helping to share the love of your Adelaide Park Lands - each of us sharing our favourite part with you:
There’s one person missing - YOU! You can be a Park Ambassador (provided you are a member of the Adelaide Park Lands Association) and are keen to help share information about a section of your Park Lands.
Park Ambassadors are financial members of the Adelaide Park Lands Association. If you'd like to join our Association it's easy on our Membership page. If you're a member who’d like to become an Ambassador for another part of the Park Lands, simply contact secretary@adelaide-parklands.asn.au.
To become a Park Ambassador you don’t need to be a botanist or historian. We’ll help you with all the resources you need to conduct a Guided Walk with confidence.
In September 2024, we were seeking Park Ambassadors for these remaining locations:
Gladys Elphick Park / Narnungga (Park 25) including the Narnungga urban forest; and
back-up, or deputy Park Ambassadors for these and most of the other Parks in your Adelaide Park Lands.
Contact us to see if these positions (or others) are still available; or look for other volunteering opportunities.
